How To Achieve Your Dreams

You are obviously fueled by an intense purpose: to become a world-class mom. But what is a world-class mother? Research shows that being a perfect mother or at least our version of a perfect mother occurs only 30% of the time. It’s only a snapshot of success with a lot of behind-the-scene struggles. Many moms tend to dream big – to be that world-class mom – but find it difficult to take steps toward that dream. Some don’t even know where to start. This is especially true when a mom has to anticipate and resolve problems, especially unexpected ones.

A problem only becomes a problem when you see it as one, and even a problem in your child is a challenge to be worked through. If your child stumbles or if you stumble in dealing with your child, it can take a toll on your strength and patience. Additionally, you lose energy, release cortisol (your fear hormone) and focus on negativity. This could hinder you from reaching that dream of being a world-class mother. Research shows that lack of willpower (in regards to money, energy/ fatigue levels, and confidence) was a barrier in accomplishing or maintaining healthy lifestyle changes such as managing stress levels, eating healthy, and getting adequate amounts of sleep and exercise (American Psychological Association, 2010). There’s only so much a mom can do when there are so many things to take care of and little time for anything else.

You will be successful when you’re consistent with your technique, but you can’t be a wonderful parent if you have no energy. Here are some ideas on how to be a wow mom and stay inspired:

  1. Circulation – Walk 5 days a week or 20 minutes of exercise that gets your heart rate up.
  2. Read – You get some of the best insights and ideas by reading magazines and self-help books that appeal to you.
  3. Nature – Spend time daily breathing in fresh air. Looking at nature in your area is like a walking mindfulness exercise. Research says enjoying nature releases serotonin – your happy hormone. Feel it, smell it, see it.
  4. Appreciation – Connect with yourself or better yet a friend. Express 10 things you’re appreciative for.
  5. Spend time with your child/children – Have a conversation with your child/children or at least be available for one. This will help you strengthen the bonds with your children.
  6. Connection – Connect with people you love. Create a perfect moment. What’s most important is the experience, not physical objects.
  7. Affirmation – Creating positive thoughts of yourself such as “I am more energetic” or “I can do this” is a blueprint for your subconscious to become the great person you want to be.

Your job as a mother is a chance for you to change the world by being there for your child AND being there for yourself. Dream big but start small.
