Welcome to the online home of Thrive Pediatric Occupational Therapy founded by Miriam Manela, OTR.
At the Thrive state-of-the-art sensory gym, I work with boys and girls ages one through twenty-one. I use a creative blend of proven techniques to help my clients overcome behavioral, academic, social, and physical challenges while providing a safe space where children can feel free to be themselves as they explore and grow.
My unique approach to occupational therapy is based on my belief in the importance of relationships. As a mom of three, I know that one of my first concerns when visiting any professional is that they understand what my child is going through in real-life, not just in the office.
I know that when parents are partners in the therapy process and they are really listened to, the therapist gains a deeper understanding of how to personalize the treatment plan so that therapy is more effective. After all, you’ve known your child all his life—I’ve just met him!
In addition to my therapy practice, I also give workshops and lectures to parents and teachers. My teacher workshops give educators the tools they need to understand children who find the classroom experience difficult, as well as the skills they need to teach and reach out to pupils with behavioral challenges. Because I want to help more people benefit from the tremendous healing work of occupational therapy, I am now working on my first book for parents (more about that soon!)
